I just read notes of 10 June meeting https://wiki.meet.coop/wiki/10th_June_2020 and a couple of things i couldn’t understand if anyone’s got time to clarify please?

“$world” ?? - in “draft prices:https://opencollective.com/ … probably fine if we’re costing more because $world”

“C” ?? - in "design: … there is a new iteration with a C "

Thanx

this is what I understood, hopefully correctly :stuck_out_tongue: :

“$world” ?? - in “draft prices:https://opencollective.com/ … probably fine if we’re costing more because $world”
I guess it was a reference to the “capitalist world”
“C” ?? - in "design: … there is a new iteration with a C "
the “C” of OCM: The Online Meeting Cooperative

Sorry that the notes weren’t 100% clear.

Thanks Wouter, that’s fine

I will be attending for ColloCall, we are two tech-coops from Germany that are running a number of BigBlueButton servers since late April. We have also hosted a number of conferences. We’ve been too busy the last few weeks but finally we have some time to get involved a bit more, but we do not know yet how deeply involved we can get.

hi @hng! Welcome and very interesting what you’re doing with ColloCall, it’d be interesting to explore synergies.

Some questions before Thursday

  • How many BBB servers are you running in parallel?
  • what configuration / modifications did you make to the BBB and/or Greenlight code?
  • As I can understand from your site, for different user profiles you have imposed different limitations. It’ll be interesting to learn how you did that (beyond the default options in the admin user interface)

And hopefully we can explore further collaborations.
best,
Wouter

we’ll be meeting in the Meet.coop Meeting room: https://ca.meet.coop/b/wou-cyy-wpt

cu in a bit

I thought I should answer your questions here for reference:

  • We are running about 20 bare metal BigBlueButton servers right now.
  • We’ve mostly done small changes but some could also be interesting for meet.coop: maximal duration and participants, a download button for recordings, support for setting the log level of rails in .env, bug fixes etc.
  • We have added a environmental variable BIGBLUEBUTTON_MAX_PARTICIPANTS to Greenlight that is used in every create room api call to the BBB server that Greenlight uses. We than created two different Greenlight instances with one having this set to 20 and the other to 50. You can find the code in this branch: https://github.com/hng/greenlight/tree/feature/maxParticipants_duration

I just noticed that I didn’t ask any questions myself, maybe because I didn’t want to crash the meeting  Ofcourse we would be interested to know if and how we could participate, I guess our role could be a producer or what ideas you have how we could join up a bit more. Do I understand it correctly that meet.coop wants to be something like a platform coop where members can be involved with decisions etc.? I don’t know if I have the time to follow all the discussions you already had and documents you’ve created…maybe someone could bring me up to speed?
