Indeed I note someone has already done that in here (look at Categories in drop down top left on homepage). I’d guess someone doing/ done the same on Riot too… (which imho ought to be linked to in a sticky description post in each category…/me goes to see if that is already the case…)
Can do that in IRC and automatically bridge to Matrix. That’s what the existing channel is. Too bad Aether Pro is perhaps 1.5 months away from that release, it will do both.
